PETROLEUM PRICE
INCREASES
IMPERIAL OIL LIMITED

Edward Island, 17 January 2000 - The Island Regulatory
and Appeals Commission announced today that approval has been granted to Imperial Oil
Limited to increase the price of all grades of gasoline contained in its dealer and
posted consumer price schedules by 0.6 cent per litre, effective at 12:01 a.m. 18 January
2000.
The Applicant cited the requirement to reduce
benzene in its gasoline products in accordance with new federal regulations as the reason
for its request. The Commissions review of the application and supporting data
resulted in a determination that approval of this application was just and reasonable in
light of these regulations.
