Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island, February 28, 2019 — The Island Regulatory and Appeals Commission announced today there will be no change in electric rates on March 1, 2019. Maritime Electric has filed an application with the Commission for new rates for the period March 1, 2019 to February 28, 2022. The Commission and its expert consultants are reviewing the information provided by Maritime Electric. Further information is being sought from Maritime Electric that is necessary to make a decision on the application. Once all the information has been provided and reviewed by the Commission and its experts, public hearings will be scheduled to allow Maritime Electric to present its case and for the Commission to hear testimony from the experts engaged to assist the Commission in its review of the application. At this time, it is anticipated the hearings will be held early summer. New electric rates will not come into effect until after the hearings are held and the Commission has issued an order.
