Maritime Electric Company,
Limited seeks approval of an Open Access Transmission Tariff for
the period begining January 1, 2017 and for certain approvals
incidential thereto
Take Notice
that Maritime Electric Company,
Limited ("Maritime Electric" or the "Company") has applied to the
Island Regulatory and Appeals Commission (the "Commission") for
approval of an Open Access Transmission Tariff (OATT) pursuant to
Section 20 of the
Electric Power Act. This is Commission Docket
#20943.
BACKKGROUND
The OATT defines the terms, conditions and
price for access to Maritime Electric's transmission system and is
required to establish a fair and transparent process for
transmission arrangements between Maritime Electric and transmission
customers.
The filing seeks approval for three main areas being:

Updates to the text of the interim approved
OATT to reflect changes in the electric power industry generally
since the initial OATT filed in 2006.

Updates to the various charges for services
under the interim OATT as detailed in the Application.

Review of the Standards of Conduct which
guide the Company's relationship with wholesale merchant
electric service providers.

PROCEEDINGS
TECHNICAL
BRIEFING
The Commission has scheduled a technical
briefing to be held on Thursday, September 22, 2016, commencing at
9:30 am in the Commission's main hearing room. At the technical
briefing Maritime Electric will provide an overview of the
application. Persons wishing to attend the technical briefing must
pre-register, in writing, with the Commission, no later than Friday,
September 16, 2016.
PUBLIC HEARING
A public hearing will be held at the
Commission's hearing room on Monday, October 17, 2016,
commencing at 9:30 a.m., unless otherwise determined by the Commission. Hearing
has been rescheduled from March 19 to March 23, 2018.
Persons wishing to have intervenor status to
present evidence or cross-examine witnesses at the public hearing
must file a notice of such intention with the Commission no later
than Friday, September 16, 2016. The Commission
will determine whether or not intervenor status will be granted to
any person(s).
Persons not seeking intervenor status but
wishing to comment on the application may do so in writing to the
Commission at the address below. Written comments must be received
by the Commission no later than Friday, October 7, 2016.
