IN THE MATTER
of an application by Maritime Electric Company, Limited for approval of an
Open Access Transmission Tariff.
Notice of Application
TAKE NOTICE that
Maritime Electric Company, Limited (“Maritime Electric” or the “Company”)
has applied to the Island Regulatory and Appeals Commission (the
“Commission”) for approval of an Open Access Transmission Tariff (OATT).
The OATT defines the proposed terms, conditions and price for wholesale
access to Maritime Electric’s transmission system and is required to set
out the arrangements between Maritime Electric and others who wish to
directly access the transmission system.
In 2006, the Commission
ordered Maritime Electric to file a proposed OATT. The Company originally
filed its proposal in November, 2006 and, at the direction of the
Commission, subsequently engaged in a stakeholder review process. On October
3, 2007, the Company filed an amended application for Commission approval.
The filing explains the
tariff and pricing methodology used by the Company in its proposal.
According to the Company, the proposed tariff complies with the reciprocity
requirements of the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission, the organization
that governs wholesale transmission access in the United States.
