proposed amendments to its rates, tolls
and charges for electric service.
Notice of Application
TAKE NOTICE
that Maritime
Electric Company, Limited ("Maritime Electric" or the "Company") has
applied to the Island Regulatory and Appeals Commission (the
"Commissioner") for approval of proposed amendments to its rates, tolls
and charges.
In summary, the Company seeks Commission approval
of the following:
a continuation of the rebasing of the Energy
Cost Adjustment Mechanism ("ECAM");
a continuation of the Point Lepreau
replacement energy deferral until the refurbishment project is
complete;
recovery of replacement energy costs through
rates over a twenty-five year period, commencing the first month
after the Point Lepreau Generating Station returns to service;
and
a maximum allowed return on average common
equity of 9.75% for 2010 and 2011.
The application states that, with the ongoing
operation of the ECAM, 2010 customer electricity costs based on the
current energy supply forecast will decrease as follows:
(0.50%) - Residential customer using 650
kWh/month
(0.30%) - Commercial customer using 10,000
kWh/month and 50 KW/month
(9.40%) - Large Industrial customer using
9,750,000 kWh/month and 15,500 KW/month
